Reception Area
The New Inn Motel blends the past and present, with its reception housed in a fully restored historic brick and noggin cottage, standing since 1827. This beautifully preserved structure sits in front of the modern motel, offering guests a glimpse into how far living standards have come, while reflecting on the pioneering lifestyle nearly 200 years ago.
Traditional Restoration
The New Inn’s original publican, Robert Potts, held the license from 1837 to 1839. After years of neglect, the buildings were restored to their original condition using traditional techniques, maintaining the integrity and charm of the historic inn.
Set on Historic Grounds
The vision for the New Inn Motel began with Chris’s brother, Bill, in 1993. With the help of local heritage architects and the council, the dream came to life, although Bill sadly passed before the motel’s completion in 2000. Chris and his wife Helen finished the project, creating a legacy in Bill’s memory that has welcomed returning guests ever since.
A New Chapter: Linda and James Continue the Legacy of the New Inn Motel
In 2024, after decades of stewardship, Chris and Helen entrusted the motel to Linda and James, experienced hoteliers with a deep passion for preserving historic accommodations. With over 11 years of hosting guests across the globe, Linda and James have embraced the spirit of the New Inn, adding modern touches while honouring its rich heritage. Their vision is to continue the tradition of exceptional service and hospitality that the New Inn has been known for, ensuring it remains a cherished destination for future generations.
